Star Charts: an historical perspective by a former director of LVAAS. He’s been studying and collecting antique star charts and atlases for 30 years. He will take us on a journey from the dawn of printing in the 15th century to modern times, showing us how maps of the heavens have evolved and how the art and science of celestial cartography progressed through the centuries.

Since this is the year of the much awaited Solar eclipse, you will have a chance to test your knowledge about solar eclipses and other astronomy-related trivia. Bring a friend or significant other. The public is invited to join us.
Bring a snack or dish to share; hot water for coffee, tea and hot chocolate and paper products will be provided.

The featured presentation at the October 5 meeting will be a presentation of the mechanics of a Solar eclipse.
